Creation & The Fall
Genesis 1–4What happens in Genesis 1–4
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth in six days. On Day 1 He created light. Day 2, the sky. Day 3, land and plants. Day 4, the sun, moon, and stars. Day 5, sea creatures and birds. On Day 6, God created land animals and then His greatest creation, human beings. He formed Adam from the dust of the ground and breathed life into him, and He made Eve from Adam's rib. God looked at everything He had made and declared it was very good. On Day 7, He rested, not because He was tired, but to set a pattern for us.
God placed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and gave them one command: do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. But Satan, in the form of a serpent, deceived Eve by questioning God's Word, 'Did God really say...?' Eve ate the forbidden fruit, and Adam, who was with her, ate it too. Sin entered the world through their disobedience, and death came through sin. God cursed the serpent and promised that one day a descendant of the woman would crush Satan's head, the first prophecy about Jesus. Though God sent Adam and Eve out of the garden, He lovingly made garments of skin to cover them, an animal had to die to cover their sin, pointing forward to Christ. Their son Cain murdered his brother Abel out of jealousy, showing how quickly sin corrupted the human heart.

A verse to carry
Yahweh God made coats of animal skins for Adam and for his wife, and clothed them.Genesis 3:21 (WEB)
God Himself provided the first covering for sin, an innocent animal died so that the guilty could be covered. This points straight to the cross.
Something to sit with
